How to use this sheet
- Use a hundred chart beside the sheet: 10 more is one square down, 10 less is one square up.
- Before writing, ask which digit will change when you add 10. Only the tens digit changes.
- Have the child read the answer aloud to check it sounds right: 47, 57, 67.
Common mistakes
- Changing the ones digit too, so 10 more than 47 becomes 58. Cover the ones digit: it stays the same.
- Counting on 10 ones one by one instead of jumping a ten. Count by tens from the number instead: 47, 57.
- Getting stuck at a new hundred, such as 10 more than 95. Use the chart or blocks: ten tens make a hundred.
