Read and write the time on clocks with hands and on digital clocks: to the hour and half hour, then to 5 minutes and the quarter hours, then to the minute, and say whether a time is a.m. or p.m. Choose seconds, minutes or hours for how long something takes.

How to use this sheet
- Have a real clock with hands, or a paper one, to set each time before writing it.
- Read the short hand first for the hour, then the long hand for the minutes.
- Count by 5s around the clock together before the sheets with minutes.
Common mistakes
- Mixing up the hour hand and the minute hand. The short hand is the hour, the long hand is the minutes.
- Reading the hour as the number the hour hand is nearest, so 2:50 is read as 3:50. The hour is the number it has just passed.
- Reading the number the minute hand points to as the minutes, so the 3 becomes 3 minutes. Count by 5s: it is 15.
