Name and draw points, lines, line segments and rays, find parallel and perpendicular lines, sort figures by them, and draw the lines of symmetry of a figure.

How to use this sheet
- Have a small mirror, or fold paper shapes, to check lines of symmetry.
- For parallel and perpendicular, have the child trace the lines with two fingers and see if they could ever meet.
- Have the child label each figure with its symbol, such as arrows for a line and a dot for an end point.
Common mistakes
- Thinking a diagonal of a rectangle is a line of symmetry. Fold one to check: the halves do not match.
- Mixing up a ray and a line segment. A ray has one end point and goes on in one direction.
- Calling lines perpendicular if they cross at any angle. Perpendicular lines make right angles.
