How to use this sheet
- Have the child label the radius and the diameter on each circle before using a formula.
- Write the formula with the numbers in it on its own line before calculating.
- Estimate with π as about 3 first, and check the answer is close.
Common mistakes
- Using the diameter in the area formula. Area uses the radius: halve the diameter first.
- Squaring the wrong thing, so π × r² is worked as (π × r)².
- Mixing up circumference and area. Circumference is the distance around; area is the space inside.
