How to use this sheet
- Have the child trace each program with a finger on the grid, one step at a time, before writing an answer.
- Ask the child to read the arrows or commands aloud as they go.
- When a program fails, have the child find the first step where it went wrong. That is debugging.
Common mistakes
- Mixing up the robot’s left and right when it faces down the grid. Turn the sheet, or stand and face the same way.
- Running a repeat block once fewer or once more than it says. Count the repeats aloud.
- Skipping a step in a long program. Mark each step as it is done.
