Combining Transformations
Combining transformations worksheet: four triangles on grids, each moved twice, by a slide and then a flip or turn, or the other way round. Write the final vertices. Grades 6 and 8, with an answer key.
Type the answers or write with a mouse, touchpad or finger. The work stays on your device.

Move shapes on a coordinate grid by translations, reflections in an axis and rotations about the origin, give the new coordinates, and know that these moves keep lengths and angles the same.

How to use this sheet
- Have the child trace the shape on thin paper and slide, flip or turn the tracing to check each answer.
- Move one vertex at a time and label the new points with prime marks, such as A′.
- Ask what stays the same after each transformation: side lengths, angles, size.
Common mistakes
- Reflecting across the wrong axis. A reflection across the x-axis changes the sign of y.
- Rotating the wrong way. Clockwise is the way the hands of a clock move.
- In a dilation, adding the scale factor instead of multiplying by it.
