Join two words into a contraction such as can't and we're, and use an apostrophe to show who owns something, for one owner and for more than one.

How to use this sheet
- For contractions, have the child write the two words out, then cross out the letters the apostrophe replaces.
- For possessives, have the child ask "Who owns it?" and find the owner first.
- For plural possessives, have the child write the plural first, then add the apostrophe.
Common mistakes
- Using an apostrophe for every plural, as in "apple’s for sale".
- Putting the apostrophe where the words join instead of where letters are missing, as in "do’nt".
- Mixing up the dog’s bone, one dog, and the dogs’ bones, more than one dog.
