How to use this sheet
- Have the child circle each group or each row of the array before writing anything.
- Read the multiplication aloud as groups: "3 groups of 4."
- Act out sharing problems with small objects and plates, one at a time to each plate.
Common mistakes
- Counting all the objects and writing that as the number of groups. Ask how many groups there are, then how many in each.
- Making groups that are not equal. Every group must have the same number.
- Mixing up rows and columns of an array. Rows go across, like rows of seats.
