Split a number up to 10 into two parts in every way (7 is 5 and 2, 4 and 3), find the number that makes 10 with another, and make 10 with two or more numbers.

How to use this sheet
- Read each bond as a sentence: "5 and 3 make 8." Saying it helps children see the whole and the two parts.
- For a missing part, have the child count up from the part they know to the whole, using fingers or dots.
- Keep a set of ten counters on the table so the child can split them into two groups and check an answer.
Common mistakes
- Putting the whole in a part circle, or adding all three numbers. Point to the circle for the whole: it holds the biggest number.
- Writing the same two parts every time, such as 5 and 5 for 10. Ask for a different way to make the number.
- Forgetting that 0 and the number itself is also a bond, such as 0 and 7 make 7.
