How to use this sheet
- Have real coins on the table and say each amount both ways: 50p and £0.50.
- Write the amount in pence first, then put the pounds before the point and the pence after it.
- Read prices in a shop or on a receipt and say them in pence.
Common mistakes
- Writing 7p as £0.7. Pence under 10 need a 0 after the point: £0.07.
- Using both signs, such as £0.45p. Use p or £, not both.
- Reading £1.50 as 1 pound and 5 pence. It is 1 pound and 50 pence.
