How to use this sheet
- Have the child put the data in order from least to greatest first, for every question.
- Write each measure with its label, so mean, median and mode are not mixed up.
- Ask which measure best describes the data, and why, when there is an outlier.
Common mistakes
- Finding the median without putting the data in order first.
- For an even number of values, choosing one of the two middle values instead of the mean of both.
- Mixing up the mean and the median.
- Thinking the mode is the biggest value. It is the value that appears most often.
