How to use this sheet
- Have the child ask "Which one, what kind, how many?" for adjectives, and "How, when, where?" for adverbs.
- Draw an arrow from each adjective or adverb to the word it describes.
- For comparing, have the child count what is compared: two things take -er, three or more take -est.
Common mistakes
- Using an adjective where an adverb is needed, as in "She runs quick".
- Using both more and -er, as in "more bigger".
- Using "a" before a vowel sound, as in "a apple". Use "an" before a vowel sound.
