Write a fraction as a decimal by long division, see that the decimal either ends or repeats, and write a repeating decimal with a bar over the digits that repeat.

How to use this sheet
- Read each fraction as division before starting: 3/8 is 3 ÷ 8.
- Have the child add zeros after the decimal point of the number being divided, as many as needed.
- For repeating decimals, have the child divide until a remainder repeats, then draw the bar over the repeating digits.
Common mistakes
- Dividing the bottom number by the top, so 3/8 becomes 8 ÷ 3. The top is divided by the bottom.
- Stopping a repeating decimal too early and rounding it without saying so.
- Putting the bar over the wrong digits, as in writing 1/6 as 0.1666... with the bar over the 1. Only the 6 repeats.
