How to use this sheet
- Have the child say each ratio in words with its units: "3 cups of flour for every 2 eggs."
- Use a ratio table: multiply or divide both columns by the same number.
- For unit rates, have the child ask "How much for one?" and divide.
Common mistakes
- Writing a ratio in the wrong order. The order follows the words: flour to eggs is 3:2, not 2:3.
- Adding the same number to both parts to make an equivalent ratio. Only multiplying or dividing keeps the ratio the same.
- Dividing the wrong way for a unit rate, so the price per item is items per dollar. Check what the unit is.
