Systems with No Solution or Infinitely Many
Systems with no solution or infinitely many worksheet for Grade 8: nine pairs of linear equations, such as y = 2x + 3 and y = 2x − 1. Compare slopes and intercepts and circle one, none, or infinitely many. With an answer key.
Type the answers or write with a mouse, touchpad or finger. The work stays on your device.

Solve two linear equations together by graphing, by substitution or by elimination, check a solution in both equations, and tell when a system has one solution, none or infinitely many.

How to use this sheet
- Have the child choose the method first: substitution if a variable is already alone, elimination if a variable will cancel.
- Solve for one variable, then put it back to find the other. Two numbers make the answer.
- Check the pair in both equations, not only the one used last.
Common mistakes
- Stopping after finding x. A solution is a pair, x and y.
- In elimination, multiplying only one side of an equation, or only some terms.
- Reading the intersection point from a graph without checking its scale.
