How to use this sheet
- Say each word, use it in a sentence, and have the child say the word back before writing it.
- Have the child say the sounds while writing the letters, and check each sound has its letters.
- Give a short test at the end of the week with the words in a new order.
Common mistakes
- Leaving out a sound in a word with a blend, such as "sop" for stop. Say the word slowly and count the sounds.
- Writing words the way they sound when the pattern has a silent letter, such as "rane" for rain.
- Spelling a word right on the list and wrong in a sentence. Have the child write the words in sentences too.
