How to use this sheet
- Have the child say each sentence aloud with the verb. Most verb errors sound wrong when spoken.
- Put "yesterday", "today" and "tomorrow" in front of the sentence to check the tense.
- For irregular verbs, keep a list of the three forms, such as go, went and gone.
Common mistakes
- Adding -ed to irregular verbs, such as "goed" or "runned".
- Using the past participle without a helping verb, as in "I seen it". It needs a helper: I have seen it.
- Changing tense in the middle of a story without a reason.
