Identify where readers lose interest and optimize your guides.

Step-by-step analytics

See how many readers reach each step. The step-by-step view shows:

  • Number of viewers at each step
  • Percentage drop-off between steps
  • Visual funnel of engagement

Identifying problem areas

Look for steps with high drop-off—where significantly more people leave than average.

Common causes of drop-off

  1. Step is too long — Break into smaller steps
  2. Content is confusing — Clarify instructions
  3. Missing visual — Add an image or screenshot
  4. Irrelevant content — Remove or restructure
  5. Technical barrier — Step requires something reader doesn’t have

Optimization tips

Shorten long steps

If a step has lots of text, consider:

  • Breaking it into 2-3 smaller steps
  • Moving details to a later step
  • Using bullet points instead of paragraphs

Add images to text-heavy steps

Visual content improves comprehension and engagement. Consider:

  • Screenshots of what to click
  • Diagrams of concepts
  • Before/after comparisons

Break complex steps into smaller ones

One action per step is ideal. “Configure settings and save” should be two steps.

Improve early steps

The first few steps are critical. If you lose readers early, they never see the rest.

A/B testing content

Try different approaches and compare results:

  1. Create a variation of a struggling step
  2. Publish and share both versions
  3. Compare completion rates
  4. Keep the winner
